Changing Resident PGY (Post Graduate Year) Levels

You can change the PGY levels of your residents (i.e., promote and demote them) individually or as a batch. Most often, you will want to promote your residents all at once at the end of the year. However, you may want to promote or demote a resident individually if their PGY level was changed by mistake or if they are on a different time schedule from the rest of your residents (e.g., they took a leave of absence during the year).

To promote an individual resident to the next PGY (Post Graduate Year) level:

1 Open the resident's eDossier.

2 Click the Personal Info tab.

3 Click "edit" beside their current PGY level.

4 In the Levels pop-up, click "promote to next level."

5 Choose the new PGY level from the pull-down menu.

Then click the calendar icon and choose the start date for the promotion.

6 Click the Confirm button.

To demote an individual resident to a lower PGY (Post Graduate Year) level:

1 Open the resident's eDossier.

2 Click the Personal Info tab.

3 Click "edit" beside their current PGY Level.

4 In the Levels pop-up, click "edit" beside the current date range.

5 Choose the new PGY level from the pull-down menu.

If you want to change the start and end dates, click the calendar icons. However, if you are changing the resident's current PGY level, leave the end date blank.

6 Click the Confirm button.
